It happens every night around 6:30 p.m. âWhat do you wanna eat?â âI donât know. What do you wanna eat?â Most of the time, it ends up being microwave popcorn and splitting a Carrots for One. But we can still dare to dream. Millennials vs. Gen Z. Can we just be done with it now, peeps? Call it The Grimace Effect. Weâre legit scared of the purple beastie, but somehow, some way, McDonaldâs freaky Grimace marketing campaign might just turn out to be the most lucrative humor-based business idea of 2023. It all started back in June when Mickey Dâs hinted at a big surprise from the Big G. They followed up with a new Grimace birthday meal and a shake that looked like something out of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. As these things are wont to do, the news exploded on TikTok. Fast fwd to this week. McDonaldâs CEO just announced that global same-store sales bounced 12% in the April-June period, crushing Wall Street estimates. Slay Grimace.
